After completing her internship at KEM hospital Mumbai, Dr Sunila Nagvekar has pursued a career exclusively focused on the field of Pediatrics. She has completed her residency(Post Graduation of 3 years- DNB Pediatrics) from Dr R N Cooper Municipal Hospital, Vile Parle, Mumbai. In a BMC set up with tremendous workload, she has acquired immense experience in treating all kinds of patients and assessing the level of care the patient requires. She has done an extensive NICU and newborn rotation evaluating up to 100 newborns a day for more than a year in Oshiwara Maternity Hospital, Jogeshwari which is affiliated to Cooper Hospital. She has also participated extensively in the high-risk newborn OPD in Cooper hospital. After her residency, she has worked in the prestigious Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, PICU(Pediatric Intensive Care Unit). Here, she has learned about recent advances, dealing with complicated cases and how to use the latest technology as well as the newest advances in the field. With this well-rounded education, Dr Sunila started working with many senior Pediatricians to acquire practical experience in private practice. Here, she really gained invaluable lessons on how to empathise with a parent of an ill child, how to not just treat the child but equally important, how to counsel parents about all aspects of an ill child’s care. To enhance her knowledge and help patients better, Dr Sunila has done a certificate course in Pediatric Nutrition from Indian Academy of Pediatrics(IAP) and Post Graduate Program in Pediatric Nutrition(PGPN) from Boston Univerity School of Medicine. She has done Developmental Assessment of Indian Infants(DASII) from KEM Hospital, Pune and a course in Child Psychology from Sunminds Institute, Pune. This educational background makes Dr Sunila very proficient to guide parents with the commonest problems facing their child.
